# How do I find a reputable mechanic or auto body shop?

Start with the directory’s auto repair and auto body categories, ask for a written estimate before work starts, and for collision repairs paid by ICBC check that the shop works with ICBC.

Checked October 1, 2026. Numbers update on their own.

There is no licence that rates mechanics in BC, so compare: written estimates, a warranty on parts and labour, and specialities (European, diesel, transmissions) listed on the shop’s own site. The PG Pulse Awards show which shops residents vote for. For crash repairs, ICBC explains how repair shops are chosen for claims.
