## At a glance

- Bylaw Services: 250-561-7622. Officers work 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
- Report bylaw issues online through the City’s service request portal or the cityofpg app.
- Report found pets to the Prince George Humane Society (250-640-7415) and lost pets to Animal Control.
- Report aggressive bears or large wildlife to the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
- You have 14 days to dispute a bylaw ticket.

The City’s **Bylaw Services** team enforces local rules on animals, parking, noise, unsightly properties, graffiti and more. Most of their work is complaint-driven, so if nobody reports it, it often doesn’t get addressed.

## Pets

### Dog licences

All dogs over four months need a City licence ($36 spayed or neutered, $81 intact). See [permits and licences](https://princegeorgepulse.ca/city/permits-and-licences/#dog-licences).

### Leash rules

- Outside a designated off-leash area, every pet must be **on a leash** in public, and owners must carry a leash at all times.
- Dogs aren’t allowed on **sports fields or playgrounds**.
- Cats and other pets may not roam off their owner’s property.
- Pick up after your dog. Don’t leave bags on trails or throw them into the bush.

### Off-leash dog parks

| Park | Location | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park | 6877 Glenview Drive (Hart) | Fenced; separate areas for big and small dogs |
| Duchess Park | Winnipeg Street area | Fenced; small-dog area; dog water fountain |
| Moore’s Meadow Nature Park | 4750 1st Avenue | Meadow only; leash on the trails |
| Ginter’s Meadow | 4190 Massey Drive | Meadow only; leash on the perimeter trail |
| Ingledew Park | 17th Avenue near Connaught Hill | Fully fenced; shade |
| Southridge Park | 7043 Southridge Avenue | Fenced; wood-chip surface |
| Perry Park | 299 Wilson Crescent | Fenced; beside Van Bien Elementary |

There’s a maximum of **two dogs per person** in off-leash parks, and owners are liable for any injury or damage.

### Lost and found pets

- **Lost your pet?** Call Animal Control at 250-561-7622. Licensed dogs are much easier to return, and a first offence usually isn’t penalized.
- **Found a pet?** Call the **Prince George Humane Society** at **250-640-7415** (4011 Lansdowne Road).
- **Stolen pet?** Report it to the RCMP (250-561-3300).
- **Dead domestic animal** on a street or public land: call 311.

## Bears and wildlife

Prince George sits in prime bear habitat. The City says an average of **35 bears** are killed in the city each year after they get used to human food.

### Fines

- **$100** for putting your garbage cart out at the wrong time. Only 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. on collection day is allowed.
- **$300** for leaving attractants such as garbage, fruit or bird feeders where wildlife can get at them.

### Be bear smart at home

- Keep garbage carts in a garage or shed, or strap the lid shut.
- Pick ripe fruit promptly, or avoid planting fruit trees.
- Feed pets indoors, and take down bird feeders from spring to fall.
- Clean barbecues and rinse recyclables.

### On trails

Make noise, travel in groups, stay on marked trails in daylight, keep dogs leashed, and carry bear spray you know how to use. If you meet a bear, stay calm, don’t run and don’t turn your back.

**Report aggressive bears, injured animals, or large or dangerous wildlife in the city** to the BC Conservation Officer Service’s 24-hour line: **1-877-952-7277**.

## Burning complaints

Burning plastic, rubber, tires, drywall and similar materials can be reported any time to the **Fire Rescue non-emergency line: 250-561-7664**.
