What it is

PG Pulse is an everything-local guide: live conditions, local news sources, events, a local business directory and community awards. Each city’s site is run by one local licensee who knows the place, backed by our team and platform.

Who it’s for

People who know their city and like talking to local businesses. Licensees are often one of these:

What you get

Your responsibilities

You are the site’s local admin. In practice that means a few hours a week on quality and the rest on selling and promoting.

  • Keep it accurate

Watch the site for mistakes: closed businesses, wrong hours, stale events, bad data. Fix what you can from the admin tools.

  • Report what you can’t fix

Send issues and feature requests to us. They’re logged, triaged and worked into the platform.

  • Promote the site locally

Tell people about it: social media, community groups, events, local partners. A well-used site is a valuable one.

  • Sell advertising to local businesses

Meet businesses, explain the options and sign them up. Every paid placement is clearly labelled as sponsored or featured.

  • Keep to the standards

Editorial guides are never for sale, news is linked to its publisher, and ads stay local and honest.

What local businesses buy

These are the products you sell. Revenue from all of them is shared 50% to you.

  • Featured and premium listings

A highlighted profile with photos and priority placement.

  • Owning a category

Prominent sponsored placement in relevant directory categories. Placement and availability are agreed before purchase.

  • Sponsored stories

A written feature, labelled as sponsored, in the stories section and news feed.

  • Banners

Local banner ads on the home page and matching category pages.

  • Feed placements

Sponsored cards inside the live news feed.

The revenue share

Advertising revenue earned by your city’s site is split: 50% to you, 50% to PG Pulse. For example, if your site brings in $4,000 of advertising in a month, your share is $2,000. The example is illustrative, not a forecast.

The ground rules

Common questions

What exactly am I buying?

A one-time licence to be the local operator of the PG Pulse site for one city. You get the site, the admin tools and 50% of its ad revenue. We keep running the platform, the technology and the brand.

Can more than one person license the same city?

No. There is one licensee per city. If a city is already licensed, we can put you on a waiting list or suggest a nearby city.

Can I sell or transfer my licence?

Yes, but only with our approval. We need to be confident the new licensee will look after the site and the local businesses who advertise on it.

How is the fee worked out?

It is a one-time fee based on the city’s population, because larger cities have more businesses and more advertising potential. We look up the population from the latest census, so you don’t need to. The fees are in the table on this page, plus applicable taxes, and invoiced separately after your application is accepted.

How does the revenue share work?

Advertising revenue earned by your city’s site is split: 50% to you and 50% to PG Pulse. That includes featured listings, category ownership, sponsored stories, banners and feed placements.

Do I need technical skills?

No. If you can use a website and email, you can use the admin tools. We handle hosting, code, data feeds and fixes.

Do I need to live in the city?

It helps a lot. The job is local: knowing the businesses, spotting mistakes and meeting people. Tell us about your connection to the city when you apply.

My city doesn’t have a Pulse site yet. Can I still apply?

Yes. Apply for your city and we’ll tell you what launching it involves and when it could be ready.

How do I pay?

The one-time fee is invoiced separately once your application is accepted and the agreement is signed. Nothing is charged when you apply.

Interested?

Applying is free and doesn’t commit you to anything. Questions first? Email hello@princegeorgepulse.ca.
