PG Pulse Awards are Prince George's community choice awards. Locals nominate the places, people and nights out they love, then vote for them. It is free for everyone: nominees never pay to take part and nobody pays to win.
Round one: nominations
Pick a category and you’ll see a list of local candidates from our directory straight away: tap Nominate next to your pick, or filter the list by typing. Not listed? Search the whole directory or add them by name. You can nominate once per category per day, up to five in each category over the round, and you can back a nominee someone else already added. Every nomination appears straight away and also counts as one vote for your pick, so nominating is already helping them win. Duplicates are merged, so every nomination counts toward the same name.
The candidate lists put local independents first, then the most complete directory listings. Nobody pays to be listed or to be placed higher.
When nominations close, the most-nominated names in each category make the voting ballot.
Round two: vote every day
The ballot is the shortlist of nominees; only they can be voted for. You get one vote per category per day, and the day resets at midnight Prince George time. You can change today’s vote in a category until midnight; the last one counts. Come back every day to vote again and build a streak.
While voting is open we do not publish vote counts. Nominees near the top are marked “Out front” or “In the hunt” so you can see the race is on, without showing numbers or exact order.
Winners
The nominee with the most valid votes in a category wins. Ties share the win. Up to four finalists are listed after the winner. Winners and finalists get a trophy badge on their PG Pulse page and a badge they can put on their own website.
Keeping it fair
- One vote per category per day, per browser and per internet connection. Everyone on the same home or office Wi-Fi shares one connection, so a household gets one vote per category per day between them (phones on mobile data have their own). Nominations work the same way.
- Votes can only be cast from a real page on PG Pulse, a moment after it loads. Automated scripts and vote-farming tools are blocked.
- Unusual patterns, like many new browsers voting for the same nominee from one network, are held for review and do not count unless we confirm they are genuine.
- We may remove votes or disqualify a nominee if we find vote buying, bots or other cheating.
- We never store your IP address, only a scrambled code used to spot abuse. See our privacy policy.
Free for everyone, never for sale
- No account, no sign-up and no email needed to nominate or vote (a season can ask voters to confirm an email once, and says so on every ballot).
- Nominees never pay. There are no paid profiles, paid placements or sponsored spots in the candidate lists or ballots, and results are never for sale.
- Winner and finalist badges are free to download and use, as an SVG for websites and a PNG for social posts. We don’t sell plaques or certificates.
- One winner per category (ties share it) and up to four finalists, all from real vote counts.
For nominees
Open your category, find your name and tap it for your share page. It has a big vote button, a link for social media and a badge for your website that changes from “Nominate us” to “Vote for us” to “Winner” on its own. Asking your customers and fans to vote is encouraged. Offering prizes or discounts in exchange for votes is not.
