Residential rates
Every residential customer pays a daily basic charge plus an energy charge per kilowatt-hour. You choose the tiered or flat plan and can add time-of-day pricing to either.
Tiered rate
| Tier 1 energy | 11.87¢ / kWh |
| Tier 2 energy | 14.08¢ / kWh |
| Basic charge | 23.44¢ / day |
Tier 1 covers the first 22.1918 kWh per day of the billing period: about 675 kWh a month or 1,350 kWh every two months.
Flat rate
| Energy | 12.70¢ / kWh |
| Basic charge | 25.00¢ / day |
One price for every kilowatt-hour. BC Hydro suggests it can suit higher-use homes, such as those with electric heat.
Time-of-day option
| On-peak, 4 to 9 p.m. | +5¢ / kWh |
| Overnight, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. | −5¢ / kWh |
| Off-peak, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. | No change |
Applied on top of either plan. Useful if you can shift EV charging or laundry overnight.

Where Prince George's power comes from
Prince George is on BC Hydro's integrated provincial grid. According to BC Hydro, more than 90% of its generation is hydroelectric, and over 80% of its installed capacity sits in the Peace and Columbia river basins. The Peace River dams northeast of the city are the closest major sources, including the new John Horgan Dam and Generating Station (formerly Site C), BC Hydro's third dam on the Peace, rated at 1,100 to 1,230 MW.
Locally, the City's Downtown Renewable Energy System heats about a dozen downtown buildings, including the Conference and Civic Centre, City Hall, the Canfor Leisure Pool and the Bob Harkins library branch, with hot water from a Lakeland Mills system that burns sawmill residues.
