Attribution and licences
The PG Pulse API is free for personal, research and commercial use, with no key. Two kinds of material come through it, under different licences.
PG Pulse's own content and compiled data #
Our own writing (guides, stories, category copy, compiled lists) and the datasets we compile (for example the business directory, events calendar and reference datasets) are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, adapt and redistribute them for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you credit PG Pulse, linked to princegeorgepulse.ca where possible, for example: "Data from PG Pulse (princegeorgepulse.ca), CC BY 4.0". Indicate if you changed anything.
Third-party data #
Most live data (weather, air, rivers, wildfire, transit, city datasets, maps) belongs to the organization that publishes it and stays under that organization's licence. Every response names it in meta.attribution and meta.license; the tables below list each source. When you reuse it, credit the original source as its licence requires (as well as PG Pulse if you use our compilation). Our CC BY 4.0 licence does not cover third-party data, news images, logos or photos.
Rules for everyone #
- Don't present live safety data as official. Wildfire, evacuation, road, river and weather alerts come from government sources; link people to those sources for decisions that matter.
- News is links only. Feed items carry a headline, a short description, an image URL and a link. Article bodies belong to their publishers and are never stored or served here, and news images remain the publisher's property.
- Third-party enrichment stays with its owner. Some pages show Google Maps ratings, hours and photos under Google's terms. That content is not part of this API; get it from Google under your own agreement.
- People's details. Business contact details come from public business listings and licences; DJ profiles show only what each DJ chose to publish. Don't use them for bulk unsolicited messages.
- No endorsement. Don't suggest that PG Pulse or any data provider endorses your product.
- As is. The API and its data are provided as is, without warranty. We may rate-limit or block abusive use.
